Seeking 1969 to 1972 Allman Brother Concert Posters
The Allman Brothers Band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman and his brother Gregg Allman. Other members included lead guitarist Dickey Betts and bass player Berry Oakley. Both Butch Trucks and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson played drums. The band moved to Macon, Georgia, later that year, which became their home base.
The Allman Brothers played continuously in 1970, performing over 300 dates on the road. They noticed that as the crowds got bigger, so did their pay. In 1971, they decided to do a live album at their Fillmore East in New York City. They recorded over three nights—March 11, 12, and 13. While previous albums took months to hit the charts, the live album started to climb the charts after a matter of days. "At Fillmore East" was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America that October, becoming their commercial and artistic breakthrough.
