Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Move, and Pink Floyd Package Tour Plays Sophia Gardens in Cardiff
On November 23, 1967, the Jimi Hendrix package tour played the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, the home Amen Corner. The Move, Pink Floyd, The Nice, The Outer Limits, and Eire Apparent shared the stage with these two bands. Hendrix played precisely 40 minutes. The Move, who preceded Hendrix onstage, had just half an hour, and The Pink Floyd took the stage for between 15 and 20 minutes. Tickets cost from 6 to 15 shillings.

Sophia Gardens, named Sophia Rawdon-Hastings, is a sporting venue on the west bank of the River Taff in Cardiff. The Sophia Gardens Pavilion hosted many concerts and package tours. It was demolished in 2007 and replaced by the Really-Welsh Pavilion.
Hendrix wowed the audience by wearing a glimmering, pale blue, crushed velvet suit with flared trousers. He amazed the audience with his playing skills and showmanship. The first set included “Hey Joe” and “Purple Haze” as well as a version of the Beatles’ “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and The Troggs' “Wild Thing.”
