Jimi Hendrix and his band arrived in Münster on January 14, 1969, for only one concert at the Halle Münsterland. A review of the show mentions that Jimi Hendrix was bored first, but once he picks up his guitar and starts to play, he electrifies the venue. At that time, Hendrix was the highest-paid rock musician and delivered a great show to the Münster audience. The Experience played the following songs:
Come On (Part I)
Spanish Castle Magic
Red House
Fire
Foxy Lady
All Along the Watchtower
Hey Joe
Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Purple Haze
A fan mentions that he especially recalls the song Red House because he had never heard blues played like that before. Hendrix breaks a string and keeps on playing on five during the song. He changes the broken string while playing.
There are three spectator recordings from the Münster concert. To listen go to Youtube. The sound quality is good.
